Hello everyone!
Well, the reunion has
come….and gone. It’s hard to believe, after so many months
of planning and preparation, the night could pass so quickly! It
really flew by.
Thank you to those who
were able to attend and we missed those of you who couldn’t be
there.
Our evening started at
6pm with people checking in, getting their name badges (with
senior pictures on them!), a copy of the memory DVD, and tickets
for the basket raffle. Right from the start everyone was very
excited about seeing old friends and having a fun night.
Right before dinner I
said a few words to welcome everyone. Some of you know just how
hard that was for me. Speaking in front of a group is just not
something I’ve done very often and I’ve always struggled with it.
I almost didn’t plan the reunion because I didn’t think I could
speak in front of everyone! I’m glad I did it and thank you for
being so supportive. Thanks to the committee, my close friends,
and family, for helping me get through it.
During dinner we
watched the memory DVD we put together, using pictures that were
sent in by many of our fellow alumni. It was great to hear the
cheering when people saw pictures of their friends.
After dinner, Michelle
Garcia and Lisa Brown went to the microphone and almost made me
cry. The committee gave me some beautiful flowers and put
together a gift bag, full of wonderful things, for me! The
committee members were Lisa Brown, Michelle Garcia, Nicki Taylor,
Crystal Tongate, Renae Boyd, Cindy Steward, and John Hamisch.
They are so sweet and I’m so lucky to have been able to work with
them. I’ve made some new friends and I’m very thankful.
Several times during
the night I stood back and just took a look around the room. The
energy in the room was amazing! Almost everyone was up talking,
dancing, and hugging. Flashes were going off all over the room,
with people posing and smiling in front of the cameras. It really
was wonderful to see. I hope you all took some great pictures and
that you’ll share them with us. We’re putting together another
DVD. This one is of the reunion weekend. Please check out ‘DVD
info’, on our website, for details.
The end of the night
came far too soon for many of us. Midnight came, and like the
story of Cinderella, the fairytale was coming to an end. The
lights came on, the hotel staff came out, chairs and tables were
being taken away, yet STILL people stayed!
Everyone finally
walked out of the magical ballroom and started separating into
smaller groups, to continue their night. I was lucky enough to
find a great group of people to visit with in the hotel bar. The
bar was closed, but some of the group managed to help themselves
to some of the beer behind the bar anyway. Doesn’t that sound
like our class?! Even 20 years later, some things never change.
They did say they left money to pay for the beer, though, so I
suppose everything is okay. Thanks to those who included me in
their evening. I really had a great time.
Then, sadly, our
reunion night came to an end. I truly hope that everyone made it
home safely and that you had as wonderful a time as I did. I
didn’t want it to end!
Sincerely,
Tammy (Vido) McGuire
P.S. Please check out
other areas of our website for recent additions and changes. I’ve
added a message from Mr. Laningham, DVD info, a list of who was
there (if I left anyone's name off the list, please let me know),
an alumni email list (if you want to be added, send me an email),
and a bunch of pictures! Please check out the info about the DVD
soon. We have a new deadline for the pictures (Sept. 15th)
and a request about how to send them in.
